THE ROLE

As a Second Shift Dispatcher/Customer Service Representative, you are the operational nerve center of the shift. You'll coordinate time-sensitive deliveries, manage courier activity in real time, and serve as the primary point of contact for clients who depend on us for critical, same-day logistics.

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM Every other weekend on-call (paid) for warehouse parts pulls Location: Roanoke, VA — In-Person

This is not a passive call-handling role. You'll be making judgment calls, solving routing problems on the fly, and owning outcomes — with the trust and autonomy to do it.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Serve as the central communication hub for all emergency and non-emergency dispatch activity during your shift
  • Receive, prioritize, and dispatch delivery orders with precision and urgency
  • Direct couriers via phone, radio, and dispatch software — adjusting routes in real time based on traffic, capacity, and client requirements
  • Monitor active deliveries and proactively communicate status updates, delays, or obstacles to clients
  • Triage inbound client calls professionally, gathering accurate information and providing clear, confident responses
  • Maintain accurate logs, call records, and system entries throughout the shift
  • Coordinate weekend on-call warehouse parts pulls on a rotating basis (compensated)

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You're the right fit if you:

  • Have 3–5+ years of direct customer service or dispatch experience, ideally in logistics, transportation, healthcare, or a similarly fast-paced environment
  • Can manage multiple priorities simultaneously without losing composure or accuracy
  • Communicate with clarity and confidence — written, verbal, and real-time
  • Know how to lead from your seat: holding couriers accountable, reading situations quickly, and making sound decisions independently
  • Are comfortable with dispatch software, mapping tools, and Microsoft Office — and can learn new systems quickly
  • Take ownership of your shift and treat every delivery as if it matters — because it does

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3+ years customer service experience (5 years preferred)
  • 1+ year dispatching on-demand or routed deliveries preferred
  • Proficiency with keyboard, Microsoft Office, and ability to learn dispatch and mapping software
  • Must pass a criminal background check
