Position Summary
We have an immediate opening for a talented Second Shift Dispatcher/Customer Service Representative. The schedule is Monday – Friday 3:00pm-11:00pm, with every other weekend on call (paid) to pull parts from the warehouse. This is an in-person position located in our Roanoke Office.
As a Dispatcher/ Customer Service Rep you will:
- Act as a communication point for emergency and non-emergency calls.
- Interact with clients to receive requests, dispatch orders and track couriers.
The ideal candidate must be an excellent communicator and able to remain calm and composed, especially in time sensitive situations. You must be able to multi-task and practice active listening skills as well as take the appropriate action with little supervision. The goal is to enable different parties to communicate well by ensuring the accurate and timely transmission of information.
Responsibilities of the Customer Service Agent/Dispatcher
- Receive emergency and non-emergency calls and record significant information
- Address problems and requests by transmitting information or providing solutions
- Receive and dispatch orders for products or deliveries
- Use radio, phone or computer to send couriers to pickup locations.
- Monitor the deliveries and routes to ensure on-time-delivery.
- Update clients with information about orders, traffic, obstacles and requirements
- Enter data in computer system and maintain logs and records of calls, activities and other information.
Customer Service/Dispatcher Competencies
- Must be able to work in a time-sensitive, fast-paced work environment and be able to exercise resourcefulness and good judgement to solve complex logistics issues.
- Must possess exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, and be able to assess client needs and relay essential products and delivery information to couriers.
- Must possess strong relationship management and leadership skills to ensure Courier compliance with assignments.
- Must be comfortable interacting with customers over the phone and be able to listen, talk, and type while processing client orders and requests.
Required education and experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Three or more years of experience in a direct customer service role required; five years of experience preferred. Equivalent experience and education in a related field will be considered.
- One or more years of experience with dispatching on-demand or scheduled route work preferred
- Must be proficient with using a keyboard and Microsoft Office programs; must be able to learn and use dispatch application software and mapping programs to facilitate efficient routing.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check.
